Which of the above is best?

CSF Checkout it's features http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html

Both work great. People tend to prefer CSF right now because it has a GUI and you don't have to go into ssh to work with it. I personally would prefer to use SSH over WHM but thats just me (which CSF can do as well)

Another cote for CSF + LFD. I have only one server with APF (it came with it and have been too lazy to switch), but I much prefer the CSF + LFD combo. I use it in ssh as well but it now integrates with DA and cPanel for a GUI interface.

I've always used APF on my servers so I stick with that.

I also use APF

I prefer CSF because of the GUI because I just find it easier to manage. I still do use it through ssh but yes its a bonus to me that it has the GUI. Also when I first ever tried to install APF I had a lot of problems so that's one reason why I have stayed away from it.

In the case of APF, it hadn't been updated in a long time and while nothing was really broken about it, it had become stagnant and didn't receive any new features or functions. I see via the updated website that it's getting some love again. In the end, both APF and CSF do the exact same thing at the system level - a user interface into IPTables. They both do the job and do it well but CSF/LFD has leapfrogged APF/BFD as far as features and functions go and has a pretty active development cycle which is going to be why people (myself included after 3-4 years of APF-only) are leaning more towards CSF/LFD. Just use the one that makes the most sense to you and if you have cPanel or DirectAdmin, you get a gui in the control panel to work with CSF as well which for the non-CLI savvy, is kinda nice.

CSF + LFD. Most my clients servers use it ( hosting servers ) No issues for me so far.

CSF if better by far. I highly recommend users of APF to give it a shot. I used APF for a long time simply because it "worked". CSF is however better, and worth the time it takes to learn how to use it. It is more stable and more much configurable.

I used APF & BDF and CSF & LFD. I recommended CSF & LFD Work perfect

Same here I would suggest you to go ahead with CSF & LFD, but in the end its your choice what you would like to go for ..

I would also suggest to install CSF & LFD, also lfd checks on various server security settings which makes the server least vulnerable to attacks.

CSF works nicely for me. The Webmin / WHM module is icing on the cake, but I still prefer the commandline interface to configure them as I have my own scripts to set things up automatically. I used to like APF too, both are wrappers for setting IPTables

They both work well, but CSF/LFD has a lot of newer features that integrate really nicely with cpanel and it's software.

They also integrate with DA!

I think everyone agrees CSF is a breeze to use, but I would recommend APF over it for anything requiring the utmost stability as there are a few little glitches with CSF - although they can be worked out with you put the time into it.
