Which one is best? McHost or Voxtreme

Posted by ghost, 08-26-2002, 12:31 PM
Hi I want to buy an reseller account but not just for sell, I have a portal and e-commerce project I want to host there. It uses PHPs and lots of databases, I mean it is loaded the server very high. When I take this criteria I eliminated the other hosts and I have two McHost and Voxtreme. And now is there anyone has an experiences with one of this two hosts or both? Can you share with me your opinions and advises? Which one should I choose? Mchost or Voxtreme or Anyother? Thanks

While both are really good providers, you want to check and see which one fits your business model better. When dealing with two providers that provide good quality services, it really comes down to the difference in plans they offer.

I judge things on honesty and how upfront a host is. Using this criteria, I would choose Voxtreme. I have yet to see them say that other peoples datacenters are their NOCs and I don't see misleading statements from these guys. While both seem have good reviews here, I certainly would choose Voxtreme from what I have observed here on the forums.

I agree, Voxtreme Matt is a very reputable person, i have done business with him before and i can honestly say you won't go wrong with Voxtreme or Matt. Voxtreme

I have accounts with both and have been extremely happy. I haven't experienced any downtime that has affected my sites and the support has been great.

I have an account with Voxtreme- they are the best- great support.

I am currently in the process of switching from McHost to Voxtreme. I have been with McHost for 6 months and the last month has been lousy. The customer support takes way to long to respond and in my experience wasn't that helpful. I would ask multiple questions in one ticket and get a half answer to one of the questions while the other's where ignored. I would have to resubmit tickets and sometimes wait 3 days for a response. If they would get the helpdesk issues straightened out and move the old customers to the new data center they would be in good shape in my opinion. While I am new to Voxtreme the customer support has been excellent, fast and courteous; sometimes only waiting 15 minutes for a response and never having to wait more than 8 hours. Trent

I have used neither, but have to agree with UmBillyCord in my opinion of these providers.

Thanks to those who recommended Voxtreme. I'm in the middle of moving my accounts. This is my experience and mine alone: (1) Went to website. Not informative. Nothing about IP usage and price. (2) Tried my luck and sent an email. Got a reply within minutes. (3) Got the answers and signed up. (4) Forgot to ask for private nameservers. (5) Sent another email. Got the email within minutes and a few more for IPs for my nameservers. Kudos to Matt and team.

Voxtreme

Posted by ghost, 08-27-2002, 08:03 PM
OK! Thanks everybody I decided to use Voxtreme, I tried by myself and sent a questions mail to both, Voxtreme answer me within a minutes but I got an answer after 3 days from McHost. Sorry Matt but I have a question for you, maybe it is not related with the subject but why is your design so amateur? (don't hate me please) When I've visited to your site and the Mchost I thought you were an amateur company and could gave nothing. After opening this threat I've changed my mind. Why don't you try to change your design. (this is my opinion but I am trying to be objective) I hope you'll understand this is friendly.

we are changing our design very soon

I've got an idea for a layout and interface, if you're brave and crazy enough.

Posted by Suffolk Designs, 08-27-2002, 08:20 PM
Let me guess, something to do with VB ?

Posted by Aussie Bob, 08-27-2002, 08:28 PM
hehe. *whistles* maybe. Seriously, I get heaps of emails each week about the different type of interface we use. Pretty encouraging stuff.

Posted by Suffolk Designs, 08-27-2002, 08:31 PM
That was a very brave thing to do, I am glad it's working out for you. It's nice to see someone so doing well

If you need any help just ask, I would love to help you. Ok Matt we're going to meet again in begining of the October. You're great and do what you believe is right because you're right.

3 Days? Outch. Anyway, Voxtreme is #1 on my backup list for a host company if anything else goes wrong with my current host. Honestly, not to mean anything bad, I would of chosen Voxtreme if their site would of looked better and would of answered more of the basic question.

Posted by Aussie Bob, 08-27-2002, 08:51 PM
Thanks To me it wasn't brave, it was logic. But then again, I think a little left of center anyways....

From what I've heard Matt runs an extremely (or voxtremely) tight ship. I lost one of my customers who has several domains to him before I started offering reseller plans myself. But at the time, it was better for the end user.

hi tony, can i use ur reseller package just for email hosting?

Posted by pgrote, 08-28-2002, 12:25 AM
Um, I like Vox's interface. I also like MCHost. Simple is good people. Too many hosting companies look all alike.

Posted by mdrussell, 08-28-2002, 03:40 AM
Our side does need a fair bit of work, we have neglected it a little Trafficbuild, as long as it's not spamming, then that's not a problem - you can use a reseller package for email hosting. Also, if you have further questions, please send them to us directly for a quicker reply. Regards Matt

Hey, Good choice i guarantee 100% you wont go wrong with Voxtreme

Posted by Aussie Bob, 08-28-2002, 04:55 AM
BUT, those 185,000 AOL email addresses are all opt-in damnit!!!!

Posted by Gianni, 08-28-2002, 01:05 PM
I've personaly never been in contact or heard that much about MCHost, but I have to admit, Vox are a GREAT team. I'm doing a few projects with them right now and they are very friendly.

Does voxtreme offer unlimited mysql? Does voxtreme offer dedicated servers? What is your upgrade path if you expand while with voxtreme? A brief look shows that you might not be comparing the same things when comparing mchost and voxtreme. However, trust in the process and those involved is also very important.

Posted by mdrussell, 08-29-2002, 06:10 PM
We offer both mysql and dedicated servers. If you have any sales inquries regarding these - please contact us, and we'll be happy to answer any queries you may have. Regards Matt

Matt Would you tell me your opinion, my project completely written with PHP and uses lots of MySQL, initially I am waiting nearly 3000 hits (for main page) daily. And so many e-mail feedback and sends. At this point after signed up shouldn't I resell any account to keep server and my space unloaded? Or the will be the server not effected with that project? thanks. Cem

Posted by mdrussell, 08-29-2002, 06:22 PM
Cem, it would be best if you could mail us at sales@voxtreme.com to discuss this issue. I don't want to take the thread off topic. Regards Matt

Voxtreme, voxtreme and voxtreme. Coming from Hostrocket (very good for me for over a year), I had to change looking for a plan typo reseller (managing several domains), and I went on mcHost, and it has been a terrible 2 weeks. In fact I had problems with these personal name server, I was not able to create a nameserver with a .info extension, I tried with an other ... and it was not working well . The support was not able to do nothing, normal. But when I asked for a public name server, for ex ns1.mchost.com, the answer was NO. And after 2 weeks of headaches I had to quit. During that, I was also testing an other ISP, alwayswebhosting (their 9$ test plan), I think Ronnie IS very nice, helpful, honnest, but ... anyway his test plan is very good for testing a reseller plan. The only reason I had to quit is he was not selling IP neither giving telnet/ssh. And I cannot work without telnet, like going outside with no shoes. I founded on this forum Voxtreme, and I am HAPPY . They are fantastic. And Hendrik is a real support, if he does not know, and I am sure he does not knows sometime, he try, and he find. Always an answer in a few minutes. Allways a resolution in sometimes a few minutes, sometimes several days, but always there. Beside this they are technically identical, speed / downtime wise. BTW, MCHost never reinfund me the 30 days stuff since 2 monthes, and of course they dont answer when I ask them to pay me back. Allwayswebhosting did it in a minute or 2. So, Voxtreme again. You buy me a beer Matt ?
